Indian movies that will make you feel proud to be an Indian

We often come across people boasting about Hollywood and how its fascinating, honestly even I was one of them until I saw these films that changed my perspective towards Indian cinema, I have used the word Indian cinema because I want to encapsulate India as a whole and not any particular niche else I could have gone with Bollywood/Tollywood or whatnots.

Masaan: 

This movie is easily one of the best, the real craft of this movie lies in its storytelling and plot. Without spoiling it, all I can say is that if you are someone interested in society's real projection then this movie is for you.

Ship of Theseus: 

I cannot stop admiring the craft of this film, it is one of those films that has a lasting impact on the minds of people, this is a film that makes you rethink, there are moments when you will feel emotional and weepy then there are moments that will leave you bewildered with jaw-dropping philosophy. The craft of this film lies in cinematography, storytelling, acting, and plot. Each character have phenomenally portrayed their part.

Vikram Vedha:

This is one of the best Malayalam language films that I have watched, yes I am thankful for subtitles it couldn't have had been possible otherwise. This film is based on the stories from "Vikram aur vetal". without spoiling much, this film is based on the premise of ethicality and its repercussions, what would be or should be the right thing to do? that's the kind of question it raises. You have got to check this movie out for yourself to discover these questions.

Newton

Nope, it isn't a biography of Sir Isaac Newton. This is a political comedy film that exposes the loopholes in the system and also the sufferings of the tribe that has been long shunned by the civilization and how they are torn between two contrast entities while they are approached for getting votes for election. Rajkummar Rao has exceptionally delivered his role, leaving no stone unturned.

Toilet Ek Prem Katha 

Pretty much everyone must have watched this film. This film started a revolution that reflected quantifiable results. It's a serious issue, having a significant proportion of our rural population defecating in open is not something to turn a blind eye on. Moreover, the troubles encountered by women is simply unacceptable. Before watching this film I wasn't aware of the ongoing taboo in remote areas. This movie opened our eyes, even Bill Gates appreciated this film on Twitter.

Arjun Reddy

This film has changed my perspective towards Telugu cinema. This is one of those films that gives you goosebumps and it will stay that way for a while because it is difficult to register that mesmerizing experience at once. It is a love story, but not the cliched one, it is something new, original if I must say. The craft of this film lies in character development, phenomenal acting, music and the passion that's been portrayed in the film, trust me it's difficult to ignore.

Not to be all judgemental, but these films didn't receive the kind of deserving recognition as it should have. Instead, people preferred giving enormous business to commercial films where logic is as alien as time travel, where people on the street begin dancing out of nowhere knowing the exact steps and the other stereotypes as must all be aware of. Movies that I have listed being produced is a sign of Indian cinema evolving for good. What we can do on our part is give the deserving recognition that these films clearly deserves. YouTubers from foreign countries are watching these films and encouraging their talents, it is about time that we should too.
